Marshall's Forecast: Wintry Mix and Snow on the Way

THURSDAY: mostly overcast, a milky-looking sky, some sunshine getting through occasionally, high 37.

THURSDAY NIGHT: cloudy, but seasonable, low 25.

FRIDAY: wintry mix starting in the late-morning and changing into snow showers in the afternoon and evening. Accumulations Friday night should be 1"- 3" in the Columbus area.

SATURDAY: snow and snow showers, additional accumulations of 2"- 4" before tapering off in the late afternoon and early evening. Total snow fall in Columbus will be 4"- 6"… Bucyrus and Marion with 3"- 5", Chillicothe and Piketon with 3"- 6".

SUNDAY: cloudy and cold, high 27.

MONDAY: partly cloudy, high 28.

TUESDAY: wintry mix and snow showers, high 33.

WEDNESDAY: scattered snow showers, high 31.

It's my day off. But several of you asked. So here we go. Another round of snow is on the way. Fortunately, we won't get hammered as badly as the east coast.

A low-pressure center is off the Gulf Coast today. It will team up with another low and they'll both head northeast. As they move through the southern US (MS, AL and GA) on Friday, we'll start to get some of the northern-edge precip. It'll start in our area as wintry mix and even some rain showers in the far-southern parts of Ohio. But it will quickly change to snow showers by Friday afternoon. There's plenty of moisture with this one… so look for accumulations Friday of at least 1"- 3".

As the system hangs a left and heads up the east coast, we'll be on the western edge of the storm. All the precip will be snow at that point. Central Ohio can expect another 2"- 4" of snow on Saturday. A few patchy areas may see Saturday accumulations of 3"- 5" in Central Ohio. By the time the system finally moves off the east coast and leaves us alone, we'll have at least 4"- 6" of snow on the ground in Columbus.

We get a break on Sunday and Monday to dig out. Then another round of wintry mix and snow showers is on the way for Tuesday and Wednesday.
