Here We Go Again

Remember when I said on Sunday that they'd expand that Winter Storm Watch to include us? Here we are. From Missouri to Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska, it's a Winter Storm Warning. Here it comes.

Here's the big picture:
MONDAY NIGHT: frzg rain, ice begin.
TUESDAY: icy am commute, mix and rain sduring the day, icy pm commute.
WEDNESDAY: icy am commute, temps fall, snow accumulations begin.
THURSDAY: snow tapers off, digging out begins

purple is for more than 8" of snow.

Some scattered wintry mix, sleet and freezing rain starts late Monday night and continues into Tuesday. Watch for icing on the trees, sidewalks and roads. Tuesday's morning commute will be dealing with icy patches, especially on bridges and overpasses. The evening commute won't be much better.

The NAM is still going with a slightly more northern push on the warm front on Tuesday but has finally backed off its 44 degree high and has come more in line with the GFS with temps 33 to 35 degrees. We'll go from wintry mix and freezing rain to some rain and mix during the day and then back to freezing rain and icing. Road crews and drivers alike will be thrilled.

On Wednesday, the low-pressure center tracks through the northwestern corner of Ohio, taking direct aim at Toledo.

The 540 rain/snow line bisects the state during the overnight hours and into the early part of Wednesday which means we will still be dealing with wintry mix and slippery roads. Another layer of ice is likely to form overnight making the Wednesday morning commute very tricky, especially in southern and southeast Ohio.

It changes to all snow on Wednesday. And that's when the accumulations really kick in.

The heaviest snow will be in northwestern and western Ohio where the temperatures will be colder for a longer period. The Columbus area will be on the edge of the 4"-6" range. Marion, Bucyrus and Mansfield are looking at 6"-8" and the Toledo area will be digging out from under 10"-12" or more.
